The story of Christianity in NYC is a story filled with high mountain peaks and deep valleys. New York has been the birthplace of global revivals, and soul destroying cults. In recent decades a pragmatic approach to Christianity has been launched into the world, seeking to gain influence and approval from those most hostile to the core tenants of our faith. Today when you think of Christianity in New York City, memories come to mind of famous Manhattan pastors denying Christ on Oprah, or insisting that sins which God calls us to turn from, aren’t that big of a deal and won’t lead to hell. More recently the governor of New York was invited to preach at a Brooklyn mega church and she used the pulpit as a platform to advocate for covid propaganda. During the pandemic some New York pastors fled for more comfortable locations, and nearly all shut their churches down for a year or more. Due to the leadership of the evangelical gate keepers in Manhattan,  the most appropriate terms that describe the current culture of the majority of churches in Manhattan are “compromise,” “capitulation,” “winsome,” and “cowardice.”  Imagine if the church in New York was most accurately described as Faithful?
