The liberties secured by the United States Constitution are being pressured from multiple directions at once – and not always in obvious ways. What I’ve been calling “Critical America Theory” is a kind of umbrella dynamic where frameworks derived from critical theory get adapted across the spectrum, left and right, to deconstruct shared institutions, norms, and assumptions that hold a constitutional order together. The key question isn’t just what is happening, but why.
So the real issue is whether Americans, across all differences, can recognize that pattern and decide that preserving a framework of ordered liberty is actually worth defending together, rather than continuing to fracture along lines that ultimately weaken the system itself.
During this seven-day study cruise beginning in Tampa, FL, I will lead us through discussions and question and answer sessions against the breathtaking landscape of the Caribbean. As we consider the causes of things and the need for new discourses, we will be encouraged to preserve our constitutional republic and our freedom.
